Pedro Luis Ferrer - Fundamento & Changuï

This video shows one of Cuba's foremost trovadores, Pedro Luis Ferrer with his band (his daughter plays percussion in it). Born in 1952, he already established a reputation in Cuba in the late 1970's, but only after the release of his "Rústico" and "Natural" albums in the first decade of this century, he became more well known to the outside world. In Cuba he suffered censorship, but Ferrer still firmly pronounces his credo:"If we can't say what we think, we can't defend this country." "MIster Cuba 100% " here performs at the world music fair Womex, in Newcastle, 2005. At this event and wonderful concert, world music pioneers Jan Fairley and Stan Rijven were also present.
