The Hebrew Word Behind "The Narrow Gate" That Most Christians Never See

Most people have read Matthew 7:13 their entire lives — and never noticed that one word in that verse carries a meaning the English translation leaves entirely behind. In this biblical archaeology documentary, we investigate the original language behind the Sermon on the Mount — and what we found in the Greek and Hebrew texts changes how this passage has been read for centuries. The word Jesus used in Matthew 7:13 connects to a world most English readers never see. Following it back through Koine Greek into Second Temple Judaism, a pattern emerges — across archaeology, ancient manuscripts, and the Hebrew Bible — that reframes the entire passage. This is bible history documentary storytelling grounded in real archaeological evidence, original Greek and Hebrew texts, and historical sources most people never see. 🔎 What you'll discover: The Greek word behind "narrow" — and the dimension of meaning your Bible doesn't show A Hebrew passage written six centuries before Jesus that mirrors his exact language What archaeologists excavated at the ancient city gates of Tel Dan and Megiddo Why city gates in the ancient world were places of judgment, covenant, and restoration — not simply entrances How Peter, Paul, and John each return to the same pattern — in ways most readers never connect 📚 Sources referenced in this episode: Matthew 7:13 (Greek New Testament) · Psalm 118 (Masoretic Hebrew Text) · Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews · Tel Dan Gate Excavations · Tel Megiddo Gate Complex · Israel Antiquities Authority · Proverbs 31 · Ruth 4 · Amos 5 · Nehemiah 2–3 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔔 Subscribe for more biblical archaeology and bible history documentary content every week. 👉 Watch next: The First Word of Genesis Is Not "In the Beginning" — What Bereshit Actually Contains ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ #BiblicalArchaeology #BibleHistory #AncientHistory
