Oldham responded well and had a huge chance — Fondop one-on-one… but he dragged it wide. Just after the second-half restart, Oldham won a penalty and Joe Garner slotted it home. 1-1. In extra time, Southend regained the lead as Leon Chambers-Parillon headed in after a parry. With Oldham looking finished, James Norwood rounded the keeper to equalise. Scenes! Then, just a minute later, Kian Harratt’s cross from the right flew all the way in! 3-2 Oldham. Absolute mayhem in the Oldham end. They held on.
