This is the story and lore behind Diablo's "Diablo", the final quest in the game. I've included the ending cinematic as well. Note: you can pull Diablo out of his chamber with holy bolt, unfortunately my warrior hasn't even learned the first rank of it. Next up: Diablo 2.
