Dave Winder at The Bridge Folk Club, 13 July 2026 The Monument (Lest We Forget) (Andy Irvine) This is Andy Irvine's story of the Ludlow Massacre in the coalfields of Southern Colorado, USA, on 20 April 1914. Soldiers from the Colorado National Guard and private guards employed by Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) attacked a tent colony of roughly 1,200 striking coal miners and their families. Approximately 21 people were killed, primarily miners' wives and children. The site of the massacre is owned by the United Mine Workers of America (the UMWA), which erected a granite monument in memory of those who died
