Don’t Wait Until Purgatory: Let God Purify You Now | Fr. Tyler Mentzer, MIC

God is drawing you to Himself; but what is holding your heart back? In this teaching, Fr. Tyler Mentzer, MIC, uses the image of a magnet to explain how our souls were created for union with God, while sin and disordered attachments hinder that communion. Reflecting on All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls’ Day, he reminds us that every person is called to holiness. Through surrender to God’s grace, our hearts can be purified and transformed, preparing us for the eternal joy of heaven. Drawing on Jesus’ invitation to take the lowest place, St. Faustina’s account of the souls in purgatory, and Mary’s example of humility, Fr. Tyler reveals how we grow in holiness by allowing God’s love to work within us. This reflection invites us to pray for the faithful departed, embrace opportunities for purification in our daily lives, and turn to Our Lady, the Gate of Heaven, for guidance toward her Son. Let this teaching inspire a heartfelt prayer: “Lord, purify me now,” as we respond to our deepest calling, to be holy as the Lord our God is holy.
