Gregorian Chant for Mercy & Trust is sung from the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the prayer Saint Faustina Kowalska wrote down in Vilnius in 1935, which millions now pray every afternoon at three o'clock, the hour of Christ's death: Iesu, in te confido — Jesus, I trust in you. The chant keeps the words of the chaplet in Latin. Pater aeterne, offero tibi Corpus et Sanguinem, animam et divinitatem dilectissimi Filii tui — Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. Its refrain is the line prayed on every bead: Pro dolorosa eius passione, miserere nobis et totius mundi — for the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Around it stand the prayer to the Blood and Water that flowed from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy; the ancient Trisagion, Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One; and the two psalms of Divine Mercy Sunday: I will sing the mercies of the Lord forever, and give thanks to the Lord, for his mercy endures forever. Performed in the ancient Gregorian tradition with a deep male monastic voice, this sacred ambience is ideal for the Hour of Mercy at three o'clock, praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, trust in God, forgiveness, prayer for the whole world, meditation, deep rest, and quiet moments spent in God's presence.
