Inauguration event of the Brabo project (English subtitles)

A robust power grid doesn't stop at national borders. In August 2026, transmission system operators (TSOs) Elia Transmission Belgium and TenneT Netherlands celebrated the commissioning of the Brabo project. This upgrades the power grid in and around the Port of Antwerp and boosts the electricity exchange capability between Belgium and the Netherlands. Today also saw the two TSOs officially confirm their ambition to upgrade the existing electricity interconnector between Kinrooi (in Belgium) and Maasbracht (in the Netherlands). In attendance were Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, who emphasised that cross-border cooperation is essential to tackle tomorrow's energy challenges, enhance security of supply and energy independence and lay a firm foundation for economic growth, industrial competitiveness and the energy transition.
