Slab Poured for Our Passive Solar House!

In this video, I walk you through the full process of pouring the slab foundation for our passive solar house—starting with the dirt pad, then footings, plumbing drains, and finally the concrete pour. But before we get into it, I explain what passive solar really means: using the sun to naturally heat your home in winter, while keeping it cool in summer with smart design and thermal mass. This includes features like south-facing windows, overhangs that block the high summer sun, and a concrete slab that stays cool thanks to being buried in the earth. You’ll see how we prepared the site, laid out forms, installed plumbing and insulation, and got everything ready for the big pour. You'll see the surprisingly smooth finish.
