Drawing on her work serving unhoused children and her broader study of institutional practice, Emily Bloyd pushed back against the sanitized version of Montessori’s history that has become common in modern training and marketing. She argued that Montessori’s framework was conceived as genuinely revolutionary, and that an education for peace which ignores political reality fails the very children it claims to serve, both the most vulnerable and the most privileged.
