In 2021, Canada became the first country in the world with a national ocean literacy strategy. Today, we’re sharing what comes next. Since the first National Ocean Literacy Strategy launched in 2021, COLC and a network of more than 1,000 partner organizations have put it into practice, studying what works and what doesn’t along the way. That learning has shaped Land, Water, Ocean, Us: An Updated Canadian Ocean Literacy Strategy (2026–2030) and its six national priorities for the years ahead.
