Marker Trick for Finding Correct Sharpening Angle

Just a quick demonstration how to find the proper angle for your Apex of your blade. I prefer a 20 to 22 ° angle for a majority of pocket folding knives I own, especially on this Ontario with D2 steel. The edge retention is far superior than a lot of softer steels found in your common pocket knives. Sharpie trick simply shows where the contact and striking patch is of your sharpening stone. Too low of an angle and you will be hitting high up on the shoulder of the blade leaving marker at the very edge of the Apex. too severe of an angle and y ou will find that the Sharpie is at the very edge of the blade leaving a lot of Sharpie higher up on the shoulder. you simply want to find the perfect angle in which the Sharpie is removed all throughout the apex of the blade. #sharpening #knifecommunity #knifeskills #sharpening #steelfixer #pocketknifes
