Welcome back to THE_AFRICAN BUILD!
THE FIRST FLOOR IS TAKING SHAPE! Today, we are deep into one of the most important stages of this construction journey ,SHUTTERING THE HOUSE AND PREPARING FOR THE FIRST FLOOR.
The work may look simple from a distance, but there is a lot happening behind the scenes. Our workers are carefully cutting and preparing timber to create the sides that will contain the concrete once it is poured, while placing the trappers that will form the base of the first-floor slab.
We are also installing strong struts underneath the trappers to firmly support the entire structure and keep everything in position while the concrete is poured and cures. The sides are being reinforced to make sure they can withstand the pressure of the concrete and maintain the correct shape.
But that's not all!
Our team is taking measurements, stretching lines and carefully levelling the struts to make sure the first floor starts at a uniform height and that the finished slab is as level as possible.
This is the kind of work that happens before the concrete arrives , the measurements, the timber, the supports, the levelling and the teamwork that eventually make it possible to create a strong and properly finished first floor.
And what a beautiful day it has been! ☀️ Progress has been made, and with every piece of timber and every strut put into position, this house is getting closer to receiving its FIRST FLOOR.
At THE_AFRICAN BUILD, we bring you an authentic look at everyday African construction — the real workers, the real processes, the challenges, the progress and all the nitty-gritty details involved in building a house from the ground up.
