HE SAID SHE'S LIKE A TREE | Dag Heward-Mills

Dag Heward-Mills makes a strange but memorable point: strong desire isn't shameful, it's normal. If you look at a girl and feel nothing, something's wrong, because only a man with no testicles would see a girl 'like a tree' - would you ever want a tree? The real issue isn't having desire, it's controlling it, and he says only faith, a force you exert rather than a feeling you wait for, can quench 'the violence of fire' from Hebrews 11:34. He pushes further: you know how to scroll Instagram and Snapchat for hours without your phone battery dying, but you don't know how to let a sermon play the same way. Faith comes by hearing. Then comes the challenge - if you can't even skip lunch to fast, how will you ever overcome pornography or lust? Real self-control starts with something as small as going without one meal.
