Today, industrial food production causes severe soil erosion and climate stress. Pre-Columbian civilizations, such as the Incas, managed this problem by building agricultural terraces (andenes) on mountainsides to prevent soil degradation and conserve water. In modern times, applying these terrace farming techniques and natural soil rotation could restore damaged mountain terrain without relying heavily on synthetic chemicals. In my opinion, modern society should definitely combine this ancient ecological wisdom with current technology like automated drip irrigation. This partnership balances efficiency with environmental protection. Ultimately, the greatest lesson we can learn from past civilizations is that human progress must always respect the natural limits of our soil.
