Stanhope 10K 2024 (Greener Miles Running)

Well, what can I say about this one? Other than, it was a brilliant event, one that I'll certainly do again and one that I wholeheartedly recommend people consider for next year. Initially nervous about it, first time in a long while at a run where I didn't know a single other runner, big hills, longest distance (for me), but it turned out to be an absolute highlight of my running year. The wind was cold, it was pouring down, the hills were steep, the miles were hard, so why was this such a great event? Honestly - I do not know, all I do know is that, once my initial nerves went, I had the time of my [running] life. Not in the same happy-go-chatty way as something like the Great North 10K, but more of a I'm-pushing-myself-and-loving-it kind of way. The weather added to the atmosphere for me, it made it seem more challenging (though on a hot sunny day this run could be an altogether different beast!), and the scenery and terrain was varied enough to make it fly over, despite being my slowest 10K by some margin!
