Driving on the world's highest and greatest highway, the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, it is also known as China National Highway G216 through Qiangtang depopulated zone the world's highest land across Xinjiang and Tibet, from Minfeng County, Xinjiang to Gêrzê County, Tibet - Part I Minfeng (Xinjiang) to Memar Tso Lake (Tibet).
The Xinjiang section of the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway Line 2 has an altitude of 1,300-1,500 meters, the Tibet section has a minimum altitude of 4,370 meters and a maximum altitude of 5,566 meters. The average altitude is 4,700 meters. It is also a highway that passes through the uninhabited and no-gas areas of Qiangtang.
The Xinjiang-Tibet Highway Line 2 is one of the Xinjiang-Tibet lines. It is the middle section of China National Highway G216 (Hongshanzui Port in northern Xinjiang - Gilong Port in Tibet), connecting Minfeng County in Xinjiang - Gêrzê County in Tibet. It is 851 kilometers long (273 kilometers in Xinjiang section and 558 kilometers in Tibet section).
China National Highway G216 is also a war preparedness highway, because the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway and National Highway G219 are too close to the border, especially the Aksai Chin area, which is a disputed area between China and India. In the event of a war, it is easy to be cut off. In addition, this road is not only at a high altitude, but also has to cross five or six passes in the Kunlun Mountains. The mountains are high and the roads are dangerous, and the winding mountain roads are dangerous and difficult to travel. Therefore, China built the second Xinjiang-Tibet Highway - National Highway G216.
