This walkthrough follows a real installation across four separate visits—from underground construction to the final Layer 2 switch installation and service turn-up. Watch the crews prepare the pathway, pull the fiber into the building, complete the splicing, and bring the connection into service. THE FOUR INSTALLATION VISITS • Visit 1 — Underground construction: Directional drilling, excavation, handhole preparation, root removal, building-entry preparation, and backfilling. • Visit 2 — Fiber pull: Using a draw string already inside the conduit, the crew pulls the fiber through the prepared pathway and into the location, leaving extra cable coiled for termination. • Visit 3 — Termination and splicing: Indoor termination, fusion splicing, and connections at multiple splice points along the route back to the main network tie-in and mux toward the headend or central office. This visit took approximately 12 hours, from the start of termination and path splicing through a successful light test confirming optical continuity. • Visit 4 — Switch installation and turn-up: Installation of the Layer 2 switch and activation of the Metro Ethernet service. The footage shows selected portions of the work. The narration explains additional work along the fiber route and the continuity test completed during the splicing visit.
