U Jelena Železná Ruda | Room Tour + Breakfast

A stay at U Jelena in Železná Ruda, Šumava — a beautiful area close to the German border and a popular destination for both winter and summer activities. The guesthouse is about a 5–7 minute walk from the train station, and there is a grocery store nearby. In my opinion, the price-to-quality ratio was not quite right. There is no separate reception, and check-in is handled by a woman working in the restaurant. The room was not very clean. I noticed dust, hair, cobwebs in the bathroom, toothpaste marks on the faucet, dirty mirrors, cups and an old stained trash bin. The shower drain was also very slow. There were only small individual shower gel sachets in the bathroom — no shampoo. Soundproofing was not great either, and I could even hear someone taking a shower in another room. Breakfast was served from 8:00 to 10:00, but the selection was quite limited. P.S. The breakfast at the nearby Hotel Ostry was even more limited. The place has a lot of potential thanks to its beautiful location and atmosphere, but it would benefit from better cleaning and a slightly better breakfast. Overall rating: 3/5. Pro české diváky: U Jelena má skvělou polohu pro výlety po Šumavě — vlakové nádraží je jen pár minut pěšky, Německo je kousek a okolí je opravdu krásné. Samotný penzion ale podle mě trochu zaostává za tím, co by mohl nabídnout: pokoj by si zasloužil důkladnější úklid, odtok ve sprše fungoval velmi pomalu a snídaně byla spíš základní.
