Scarborough Fair — The Impossible Love Story (Short Film)

Scarborough Fair, the traditional English ballad of impossible love, reimagined as a cinematic AI short film. Inspired by the timeless folk song and its haunting refrain — “Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” — this visual adaptation dramatizes the impossible tasks exchanged between two estranged lovers: a cambric shirt made without seam or needlework, an acre of land between sea foam and sea sand, a field ploughed with a ram’s horn, and a harvest reaped with a sickle of leather. Set against the rugged coast, old streets, and windswept countryside of Yorkshire, the film explores the pride, silence, longing, and impossible distance at the heart of Scarborough Fair.
