Our roof vent suddenly started leaking. Both the one at the front and one at the rear started leaking at the same time - very odd. This video shows how to redo the seal using the proper sealant a mastic sealant strip which is better to use than silicon, I especially on an aluminium roof. I am a huge fan of silicone but in the video, you can see that the seal has failed. With a mastic tape - this stuff stays flexible and seals for many many years and is very resistant to UV. There is more information about the joys of owning a motorhome at the website - www.classicmotorhomeowner.com I have included a list of affiliate links to make it a bit easier to find whats requires for the job. Mastic Tape - I used the 32mm and cut it in half, 16mm was plenty for the job - https://amzn.to/2YgSkAm Paint Scraper - these can be useful for getting that stubborn silicone off - https://amzn.to/336lfG9 WD40 - great for taking off silicone among other things - always handy - https://amzn.to/31m6UUz Wonder wipes - these are great but not the best for silicone removal, useful for a lot of other jobs and I always have a pack - https://amzn.to/2YogwRq If you decide to go ahead and reseal a roof hatch good luck, hope it all goes well.
