Gen Z has been called the laziest generation in history, and nearly half of hiring managers now agree. But almost nobody asks the real question: loyal to what? This video traces why Gen Z won't be loyal to companies, and shows the deal that broke before they ever showed up to work. 98 percent of HR leaders say they can't find talent, and 89 percent of them refuse to hire Gen Z anyway. Last year 1.8 million graduates applied for jobs. 31,000 got hired. Entry level jobs have dropped 73 percent in four years, and 47 percent of employers plan to eliminate them completely by 2027. We follow two identical hires, Marcus and Devon, five years apart, to show exactly what staying loyal costs versus job hopping, right up to the moment the Federal Reserve admitted job hopping barely pays anymore either. Then we go back to where the 40 hour work week actually came from. Henry Ford introduced it in 1926 to stop workers from dying on the assembly line. In 1933, the Senate passed a 30 hour work week bill 53 to 30, and business lobbies killed it because they were afraid workers would like it and never go back. We're still living inside that 1938 compromise, while companies that tried shorter weeks, from 245 organizations worldwide to all of Iceland, saw productivity hold or rise. This isn't a story about entitlement or quiet quitting for its own sake. It's about a generation doing the math on corporate loyalty, AI replacing entry level jobs, and a job market that quietly closed the door before they walked through it, and asking a question their bosses can't answer: what do I actually get if I stay? If your job disappeared tomorrow, who would you be? Tell us in the comments. And subscribe if you want the economy explained in plain language. Hawk Live Economics is where complex things get explained in plain language: money, jobs, loyalty and how the economy actually works for young people. #GenZ #GenZLoyalty #QuietQuitting #JobHopping #CorporateLoyalty #EntryLevelJobs #JobMarket #CostOfLiving #AIJobs #40HourWorkWeek #GenZVsMillennials #EconomicsExplained #Layoffs #CareerAdvice
