Peak District Explore - Millstone Edge Quarry, Over Owler Tor, Padley Gorge ***Link to Bole Hill Quarry & Disused Railway Video video -    • The Story of the Derwent Valley Dams  - Bo...   Something different from a railway explore in this video. I am training for the Yorkshire 3 peaks in July, so decided to head in to the Peak District for a bit a rambling with some hills. Starting at Grindleford Railway Station, we head up through the village of Upper Padley and the Padley Chapel. We quickly start our ascent up into the disused Bole Hill Quarry and the old railway incline. Bole Hill is home to some wonderful rock faces carved out when the removed stone for the nearby Derwent & Howden Dams. On our way out of the northside of the quarry, we pass piles of discarded Millstones that were left abandoned after the demise of the quarry. After crossing the road at Suprise View, we join the lower path on Millstone Edge and pass a series of old abandoned ruins of quarry buildings that were part of the Millstone Edge Quarry complex. We then ascend on to the top of Millstone Edge overlooking Stanage Edge, Hathersage, Castleton and onwards over the Great Ridge & Mam Tor. From there it is a short hop on to the summit of Over Owler Tor, before passing the impressive Mother Cap rock. As the stormy weather begins to close in, we quickly hop down towards Owler Tor and Padley Gorge, following the Burbage Brook back down to our starting point at Grindleford. 00:00 Intro 01:09 Grindleford 02:39 Bole Hill Quarry 04:40 Lawrencefield 05:53 Old Millstones 08:00 Millstone Edge Disused Quarry 13:45 Over Owler Tor 16:14 Mother Cap 18:45 Padley Gorge Facebook Page -   / wobbly.runner   Instagram -   / wobbly.runner   **Wobbly Runner** Please give the video a like and hit subscribe. My channel was set up in 2020 mainly to feature my running adventures. I planned to film and showcase the days out and destinations my running travels took me. Mainly the Peak District and the sights and marvels of Sheffield and the surrounding regions. However due to Covid restrictions, I found a new interest in researching and exploring old abandoned places - railway lines, canal, woodland, parks to name a few. So the videos you'll find will be mainly be of those things. Of course, where possible I'll be running to my destination.
