Join Luis Orellana, Director of Growth and Strategy at Merchfuel, for a look behind the scenes of modern apparel manufacturing—and the increasingly complex compliance responsibilities that come with it. Merchfuel is a global private-label apparel manufacturer working with distributors, promotional product companies, brand managers, decorators and other apparel partners to develop fully customized merchandise. Its end-to-end manufacturing model brings product development, customization, production and supply-chain management together, with capabilities spanning everything from tees and jerseys to woven apparel, outerwear, headwear and accessories. On this episode of The Uniformer Live, Luis will discuss how that manufacturing landscape is changing as apparel companies face greater scrutiny over what goes into their products and where and how those products are made. We’ll get into California Proposition 65 requirements, import compliance, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), and some of the practical challenges companies encounter when sourcing apparel globally. We’ll also talk about the balance between customization, speed, cost and compliance; what distributors and uniform companies should be asking of their manufacturing partners; and how greater supply-chain visibility is changing the apparel business. Luis will also introduce Merchfuel’s Printworks Hub and discuss how the company is expanding its capabilities to serve the retail, uniform and promotional markets.
