He Was ONE Exit Away — Deputies Found $1 MILLION of Meth in the Spare Tire

Deputies say there's nearly $1 million of meth inside this pickup's spare tire. The sergeant who pulls it off the truck can barely lift it. And according to the report, the driver's phone is set to a truck stop one exit up the road. 🎥 In today's copyrighted documentary, we report on an incident that occurred on Interstate 40 in Navajo County, Arizona. It starts small. A Navajo County Sheriff's Office sergeant is sitting in the median of Interstate 40 near Winslow, Arizona, in April 2024 when a gray pickup goes by driving 80 mph in a 75 mph zone. The report says it then drifts over the white line. He pulls it over and tells the driver he's only getting a warning. Then the questions start. Whose truck is this? Not mine, the driver says. Where are you headed? New Mexico, for a month of roofing work with a cousin. Which city? The driver names towns in Mexico. Then he says the job is 20 minutes past the state line, and he can't remember what the town is called. The driver says yes to a search and signs a consent form in Spanish. Under the truck, everything is covered in dried mud. Everything except the spare tire. The sergeant lowers it and can't pick it up. He has to prop it on his leg to drag it out. He brings out his K9 partner, Zolton. The report says Zolton sits down at the back of the truck and won't leave. Now the driver is in handcuffs, and the sergeant has one more question. Can I cut the tire? "I don't know," the driver says. "This is not my truck." The dog's alert gives the sergeant the legal grounds, so he cuts it. He feeds a scope through the hole, and there they are. Packages. Deputies pull out 50 of them. The report says they weigh 52.5 pounds and field-test as methamphetamine. The sheriff's office puts the street value at more than $952,000. As for New Mexico, the report says the map on the driver's phone is set to a truck stop at the next exit, about a mile up the road. Jesus Duarte-Perez, 36, is charged with three drug felonies.
