It's Session 3 of our Talking Through Philippians class recap! This week we cover Philippians 1:27-2:4, where Paul turns his attention to unity. The world builds unity around all kinds of things: sports, politics, careers, neighborhoods, people who look and live like us. Paul calls the church to something different: a manner of life worthy of the gospel. We consider why Paul stresses unity to a church that seems to be doing well, and why suffering for Christ can be a gift. We also look at what happens when selfish ambition and conceit (the King James calls it “vainglory”) creep into a congregation. Plus, Allen shares why “participation in the Spirit” has meant the most to him, drawing on his background in sports and the military. The way we live together shows the world who our true King is.
