Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1003 Holden, MO

Recorded June 3rd, 2026. Since I haven’t been to a siren test for a few months now due to the combination of my random work schedule and having inclement weather on test days, I finally got the chance to go out and get a few siren recordings for the first Wednesday of the month. I decided to swing by Holden to see how the Thunderbolt 1003 at the fire station was doing since I haven’t recorded it for a few years. This siren has had issues with the rotator and blower in the past, but it is both functioning and sounding great as of this recording.  Huge props to the Holden fire department for maintaining and keeping this siren running as long as possible. Despite getting a successful test in Holden, I found out not long after that Warrensburg had a major fail with their system as very few sirens there went off. Don’t worry, the Johnson County EMA is already aware of the issue and they are looking into it. I also did run into another fellow siren enthusiast after the test! Sirens in Johnson County, Missouri are tested on the first Wednesday year-round at 10 AM weather pending.
