Playing the nUFO (2022)

How to combine bodily movement and digital technologies for musical expression without becoming an expert in these complex technologies? The Airborneinstruments: nUFO is a new digital musical instrument facilitating a unique form of intuitive gestural play supported by its wireless interface and special software architecture. Different from conventional musical interfaces, it can be moved freely in space, while tilt, orientation and acceleration influence the sounding music. Movement and control of the instrument become digitized by a microcontroller and are transferred via wifi to a computer. The NTMI App processes these data to be used as parameters in four realtime-audiosynthesis processes.
