I Survived Myself – Asunke

Some battles are invisible. Some stories are difficult to explain. And sometimes, the hardest person to fight for is yourself. “I Survived Myself” was written from a deeply personal place in my life. There were times when the voices in my head felt like captors. I struggled to stay awake, yet I was afraid to sleep. I feared the darkness, and the battles I faced within myself were difficult for the people around me to understand. I tried to reach out for help, but there were moments when my words didn't make sense to others. I felt alone with something I could barely explain. There were days I never imagined I would make it through, let alone look back and be grateful that I am still here today. Through it all, I held on to my faith in God and fought to hold on to myself. It wasn't easy, and I won't pretend that I had all the answers. But I survived, and I chose to tell this story through music. I am sharing this song for anyone who has ever fought a war within themselves, felt misunderstood, or struggled with thoughts they couldn't put into words. Please know that you are not alone. Hold on to God. Reach out to someone you trust. Don't let the darkest thoughts convince you that your story has to end there. You deserve to be heard, supported, and given the chance to see brighter days.
