Heavy Storm on the Madaqalashat Road – I Had to Turn Back | EP:30

I started today’s journey from Jabbar in Usherai Valley, from Sami Ullah Bhai’s home. Our destination was a remote location near the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, at the junction of Kunar and Nuristan, where the historic Arandu Border had remained an important trading route between Pakistan and Afghanistan for many decades. From Usherai Valley, we reached the Dir–Chitral Road and started riding towards Dir. When we reached Lowari Tunnel, we discovered that the Lowari Pass had been closed by the Army due to security reasons. Since we couldn’t take the bike through the pass, we paid PKR 1,500 and had the motorcycle loaded onto a pickup truck to take it through the tunnel. After crossing the tunnel, we continued towards Mirkhani Post. But another surprise was waiting for us there. The Army did not allow us to proceed towards Arandu Border. When we asked about the reason, we found out that the border had been closed for almost a month. So, the plan had to change once again. We turned back towards Drosh, and from there we decided to try Madaqalashat as our next destination. We set off with a new plan, but it seemed like nature had its own plans for us. On the way, a dangerous dust and mud storm hit the area and completely blocked our route. At that point, every plan we had made for the day had failed — one after another. With no other option, we finally decided to head towards Garam Chashma Valley, where we spent the night. But despite everything that went wrong, the day still gave us something unforgettable. I saw Markhor in the wild for the first time. ❤️ And perhaps that is what makes travel so special. Sometimes you leave home with one destination in mind, but the road takes you somewhere completely different — and those unexpected moments become the memories you remember forever.
