Why is this FMS Ranger RC plane so hard to land?

For a docile, high-wing trainer-type RC plane, the FMS Ranger gave Bill more than a few problems on landings. Why was that? Well this video shows exactly what's going on during the air/ground interface -- and it's not pretty. Is this a candidate for "worst ever undercarriage design" on an RC model?
