The 2027 Diesel Crisis Is Here - Every New Truck Just Jumped $12,000!

Every projection says a 2027 truck costs up to $12,000 more. The biggest reason has nothing to do with the engine. Measured against a 2026 model on the same lot, published projections run from $8,000 to $25,000. The largest cost driver in the EPA's 2027 emissions rule was a federally mandated emissions warranty, stretched from 5 years and 100,000 miles out to 10 years and 450,000. Truck makers priced that liability straight into the window sticker. In July 2026 the EPA proposed rolling the warranty back, which brings the sticker down. The agency's own analysis says the repair expense does not go away. It shifts from the manufacturer onto the truck owner.
