Tintin is amazing! I grew up reading the books (like a predecessor to graphic novels), full of thrilling adventures. So this Cinematic Platformer Sept., we're playing the game adaptation of the 2011 movie (which I saw in the theater and actually thought was pretty good). I'm playing the PS3 version, even though I bought the PC version on DVD-ROM, because the PC version is no longer sold on digital storefronts and the DVD-ROM version has aggressive copy protection that makes it outrageously difficult to run even when the DVD is in the drive! It's theoretical, but above my pay grade. Please go to hell, Ubisoft. You'll find plenty of other people there ‹3 Tintin finds a model ship in a flea market and, thanks to the help of his dog Snowy, discovers its secret. Some dangerous men also want the ship. Multiple factions, it seems. Soon our nosy reporter finds himself in real trouble. Increasingly far from home. How many characters from the books will we meet tonight?? The game is actually pretty fun, very fast-paced with a bit less realistic movement than a traditional cinematic platformer. But you get to play as Snowy as well as Tintin, the core platforming and combat both work, and so far I think it's kind of cool that they break up the gameplay style. I know the movie adapts The Secret of the Unicorn, The Crab with the Golden Claws, and a bit of Red Racham's Treasure. There are some significant differences from the books, and also (if memory serves) some differences from the movie in the game. I know critics said the game was on the short side and didn't necessarily care for the portions with different gameplay. We'll see how I feel about it once I beat it, but so far? Good fun smacking around housekeepers, brolly bastards, and nervous rats. RAIDS: gamerisdc
