Have you been practicing piano for months, or even years, but reading music is still really slow? The problem may not be how much you're practicing, but what you are practicing.
In this video, I'll explain why using mnemonics for deciphering note names is not sufficient as a music reading strategy. I'll share what I learned as a beginner that helped me grow into an excellent sight-reader.
You'll discover how to connect what you see on the page with what your fingers do, so you can stop decoding individual notes and start playing more naturally and confidently.
Practicing more isn't always the answer. Sometimes, changing the way you practice makes all the difference!
Note: I do not recommend practicing with a towel over your hands! This was just a prop! The towel can get in the way and get caught on the keys, etc. Do not try this at home! But DO keep your eyes up on the music and resist looking down!
