This PAL4C Labs walkthrough builds a Shipment Operations Center in Palantir Foundry. It gives shipment managers a clear view of upcoming shipments and helps them spot shipments that could be consolidated. It’s built as an operational app, not a read-only dashboard, so users can explore the data and take action from the same screen.
The shipment object
Properties include shipment name, origin, destination, departure and arrival dates, total unit quantity and status. These drive both the charts and the workflow.
Conditional formatting highlights shipments marked for consolidation, so managers can see opportunities at a glance instead of checking every shipment.
TypeScript function for bulk updates
A TypeScript function takes an object set of shipments, gets the selected ones and sets their status to Eligible for Consolidation.
Because it works on an object set, managers can update several shipments at once instead of one at a time.
The function is connected to the Mark Shipment for Consolidation action in the app.
The Workshop app
Filters: by origin and destination, such as Houston to Chicago, plus departure date, arrival date and other details. The whole app updates as filters change.
Arrivals chart: shipments arriving over time, with the quantity of each product they carry.
Product Shipments tab: products, quantities, vehicles, origins and destinations for each shipment.
Schedule tab: a timeline of shipments where those marked for consolidation stand out. In the demo, shipments 62 and 12 are highlighted after being selected and marked with the action.
