My Son Says I’m Doing YouTube Wrong… You Decide

I started this YouTube channel because I wanted to tell my story honestly. No fake drama, no pretending something happened when it didn’t, and no AI-written script telling me what to say just because an algorithm might like it better. Recently, I was told that my videos are too long, and that might be one of the reasons the channel isn’t growing. The advice was to keep my videos around 12–15 minutes, script them more heavily, cut longer stories into pieces, and use cliffhangers to keep people coming back for the next video. Maybe that IS how YouTube works. But is that what you actually want to watch? Would you rather have the longer, unscripted videos where I sit down, talk to you normally, and tell the entire story from beginning to end, even if that takes 30 or 40 minutes? Or would you rather have shorter 12–15 minute videos that are more scripted, polished and edited, even if that means breaking stories apart, leaving things out, or creating suspense just to keep you watching? Or maybe there’s a middle ground: shorter videos when the subject calls for it and longer videos when there’s a story worth telling, while keeping everything honest, genuine, and true to why I started this channel in the first place. I don’t want an algorithm deciding what this channel becomes. So I’m asking the people who actually watch it. You decide. Tell me in the comments how you want me to make these videos.
