Why do volcanoes go BOOM? Pip, Snip and Old Tuk turn the page of their magic scrapbook and land right next to a smoking volcano! Snip cuts it open (snip-snip!) so we can see what's inside: the crust, the super-hot rock, the magma chamber and the bubbles that push it all up. Then Tuk remembers the day a brand-new island popped out of the sea, and the whole crew sings "Bubble Up!". In this episode kids learn: • magma is melted rock underground — when it comes out, it's called lava • magma floats up because it's lighter than the rock around it • gas bubbles push it out: sticky magma goes BOOM, runny magma oozes • volcanoes build new land, like Hawaii and Surtsey (Iceland, 1963) Chapters 0:00 The scrapbook is wiggling! 0:19 A giant smoking mountain 0:48 What's inside a volcano? 2:26 Volcanoes build islands 3:15 Song: Bubble Up! 4:32 What's on the next page?
