Chapter 4: Defects in Solids. In this video, interfacial and bulk defects in solids are introduced as higher-dimensional imperfections that disrupt the regular arrangement of atoms within crystalline materials. Emphasis is placed on interfacial defects, including external surfaces, grain boundaries, twin boundaries, and stacking faults, with their structural characteristics and effects on material behaviour discussed.
