Beautiful But Confusing | Phong Nha Cave | Quang Binh Part 2

Our final day in Quảng Bình took us to one of the region’s most famous attractions — Phong Nha Cave. The ride out from Đồng Hới was beautiful, the weather was pleasant, and the scenery made it easy to understand why people come from all over the world to explore this part of Vietnam. But before we could enjoy the cave, we had to figure out a boat ticketing system that left us seriously confused. The boat had a fixed price, regardless of how many people were travelling, which meant smaller groups had to find strangers to share with themselves. Thankfully, we met a group of four fellow motorcycle travelers and ended up sharing the boat — and a few stories — with them. Their style of travel was completely different from ours. They were riding 200 to 400 kilometers a day. We can somehow turn 80 kilometers into a full day. After Phong Nha, we headed back into Đồng Hới, tried some very average bánh xèo, went back to one of our favourite food stops Mệ Xuân, and finally made it to the cathedral after two failed attempts. And somehow, Daniel managed to eat the same bún bò Huế dinner for the third time in two days. A very Chasing Someday kind of final day in Quảng Bình.
