Pallet wood projects don't get more rustic than this: I built a wooden storage crate from reclaimed pallets for a friend who wanted a rough crate full of character. This reclaimed wood project started with old pallets and a simple brief: build a potato storage box, add a lid, and keep it looking as weathered as possible. No sanding. No polishing. Just raw, rustic woodworking. • Material: Reclaimed pallet wood (rough & unsanded as requested) • Technique: Pallet woodworking, cutting, framing & assembly • Challenge: A hidden screw in one beam meant breaking out a bigger saw • Feature: Custom lid, because potatoes deserve a proper crate • Finish: Deliberately rough (the friend's brief, not laziness!) The screw-in-the-beam moment nearly derailed things, but the rustic look only got better for it. Sometimes the "mistakes" are what make a project work. Do you prefer the rough rustic look or a clean, sanded finish?
