Baku and F1 looked good on a sunny Thursday, with the demands of the circuit standing up nicely alongside the strict regime engendered by the 2026 power units. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli were quickest for Mercedes (on both light and heavy fuel) but Red Bull's Max Verstappen, his RB22 bristling with upgrades, was a strong P3 ahead of the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton.
