OFF THE TARMAC - ULTRAMARATHON - MERTHYR TYDFIL

06/11/2021 was a momentus day for Nick "The Bullet" as he became an "Ultra" athlete running his first ever ultramarathon. Starting at Cyfarthfa park in Merthyr Tydfil this fantastic route follows the trails out North towards Brecon, through Garwnant and onto Beacons reservoir. Once at the far end of the reservoir the route crosses the A470 and climbs Pen y Fan (The highest peak in South Wales at 886 meters) Once at the top a descent of Jacobs ladder to the roman road then following the roman road to Torpantau and return on the trails via Taf Fechan Nature reserve back to Cyfarthfa Castle. 30 miles, 3840 feet of elevation and of course in true Nick "The Bullet" fashion a celebratory Steak Bake across the finish line.
