Jiribam Sub jail in pathetic condition

Hello Welcome to TOM TV About this video: One of the oldest prisons of Manipur, the Jiribam Sub jail which was established in 9TH of November, 1946, was functioning smoothly till 1955 under the supervision of a jailor, but at present, it is in pathetic condition as the jail has been turned into a slaughter house as the jail has been sadly neglected. Earlier in the year 1997, the sub-jail was used as a mortuary after it stopped functioning, later, the jail was transformed into a temporary camp for security forces. At such scenario, the law enforcement agencies in the district are facing hardships as they have to take criminals to capital Imphal which is quite far from Jiribam. Last year, the present law minister of the State, L. Jayantakumar and the local MLA of Jiribam paid a visit to the defunct sub-jail and the two leaders assured to initiate steps to renovate the prison, however nothing visible action has been taken so far.
