Hemant Atri on Artist Raihan Vadra forced to remove Zen Z protest photos after Bikaner house demand
Senior Journalist Hemant Atri on a major controversy, artist Raihan Vadra (son of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) was forced to remove 74 out of 105 photographs from his solo exhibition “No Idea Is Final” at Delhi’s Bikaner House just hours before the opening. The removed images mostly documented recent youth and Gen Z protests in Delhi. Venue management cited the “political nature” of the photos and the current political climate.
Even photographs featuring the Indian national flag were objected to. Raihan called it curtailment of artistic freedom, while Priyanka Gandhi slammed it as “muzzling the voice of the youth” and questioned the state of democracy.
At the same time, Sonia Gandhi has released the first look of her memoir Belonging: A Journey of Love. Earlier controversy around the book involved alleged pressure to remove sections related to China border issues, RSS, and Prime Minister Modi.Is the establishment so insecure that it fears even the fourth generation of Indira Gandhi and artistic documentation of youth protests? Watch for full details, reactions, and what this means for free expression in India.
