I Drove a REAL F1 Car… Slowly 👀 | Jordan EJ12 Formula 1 Driving Experience Driving a real Formula 1 car has always been high on my bucket list, and earlier this year I finally got the chance to make it happen. On a cold and rainy day in May I headed to Driftlimits in southern England, not far from London, to drive a genuine Jordan EJ12 — a car originally raced during the 2002 Formula 1 season by Takuma Sato. Before I could even get near the car there were a couple of challenges. To fit into the cockpit you need to be under 6ft 2 and under 13 stone. I was right on the height limit and over the weight limit when I received the booking — so the preparation involved three months of exercise and dieting just to make sure I could squeeze into the seat! There are two ways to experience the car at Driftlimits: • The Pace Car Experience – following an instructor at controlled speed • The Full Experience – where you’re allowed to push much harder I chose the pace car option. My goal was simply to experience driving a real Formula 1 car, and let’s be honest — the dream of becoming a professional racing driver sailed a long time ago for me! The car itself is incredible. It started life as a genuine Jordan F1 chassis from the 2002 season. The original Mugen-Honda V10 engine is no longer fitted, and the car now runs a Judd V8 producing around 600bhp. It might not have the screaming V10 anymore, but it’s still an unbelievable machine. Interestingly, due to local noise complaints from nearby residents, additional silencers have had to be fitted to some of the loudest vehicles at the circuit… meaning this might be one of the quietest Formula 1 cars you’ll ever hear! It was an amazing experience and something I’d absolutely recommend if you ever get the chance to do it yourself. Thanks for watching!
