On 28 September, the Council adopted a major EU medicines-law overhaul. Once in force, it would give countries power to require supply of protected medicines and let generic makers prepare earlier, while keeping conditional exclusivity incentives for innovation. Parliament still must formally adopt the regulation and directive, followed by Official Journal publication. Reporting cutoff: 30 September 2026, 04:08 Manila. The package is not yet in force. The supply rule is a power for member states, not a promise of immediate delivery or an EU price cap. 00:00 Council adopts the package — not yet in force 00:35 Eight years plus one: conditional protection 01:15 The new medicine-supply power 01:47 Bolar: prepare generics before rights expire 02:10 Antibiotic and rare-disease incentives 02:32 Industry response and concerns 03:01 Innovation and access 03:23 Parliament and publication Sources: Council adoption: https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/pr...
