The Persian Gulf, a sensitive geopolitical hotspot in the Middle East, has always been a region of conflict and dispute. The Iranian speedboats, commonly known as "Revolutionary Guard boats," are stationed along these coasts and even available for public rental. The natural beauty of the sea is truly breathtaking — the turquoise waters and stunning beaches of Kish Island continue to attract many travelers. However, due to poor policies and incompetence by the Islamic Republic, this once-thriving island has fallen into decline. Without a doubt, had this island remained under the capable leadership of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi or his father, it would today be one of the most luxurious and prosperous islands in the region. Fifty years ago, Kish had direct flights to London and Los Angeles. Today, its once-abandoned airport was recently renovated and the government proudly boasts a direct flight to Dubai as a major achievement! The island that had desalination systems decades ago now forces its residents to buy bottled water daily for drinking. It’s truly shameful. The incompetence of the Islamic Republic has become so extreme that people across the country are protesting, expressing frustration with poor living conditions.
