PG Kedawung 2026: day1, two locos working

A couple of days after I arrived in Java this year local enthusiast, Nurkholis, advised PG Kedawung now had only one working loco. This didn't bode well for the railway's future, but I need not have been worried as day 1 events proved. Just after 8am No02 rolled through the local village with what was thought to be the only train of the day. Then Nurkholis arrived to say a small engine was now working and would take another train out the south gate. No07 duly appeared and slowly travelled the route it was reopening twice. It would travel a short distance on its own to make sure the track was OK then return for its train before repeating the procedure. It appeared to struggle every inch of the way! Late afternoon and focus was on 02 as it readied a loaded train. The run back to the mill should have been completed before dark but the train derailed soon after departure and progress came to a halt.
