The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge - The Greatest Fundraising Challenge?

When I suggested Sportsballshop takes part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, I must admit I wasn't entirely sure what it was. It turns out the challenge was to walk 24 miles across the 3 peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent in less than 12 hours. Sounds ok, we thought so we signed up and competed on the 5th September 2020 and raised much needed funds for the Alzheimer's Society. We couldn't find much information about the walk so I decided to video our trip. Sadly I forgot I should have shot the film in landscape and not portrait so have had to adapt the video for YouTube. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks shouldn't be confused with the 3 Peaks challenge which is different and covers Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Our video and photo's should give you a better understanding of what it is like the walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and what the ground conditions are like too. This was one of the best challenges I have done and for a great cause too. The marshalls helped and encouraged along the way too. The peaks do get quite busy at times. If I had one piece of advise for anyone attempting this challenge, it would be to practice the downhills more as it hurts more coming down the mountain than going up. We completed the walk in around 11 hours and 40 minutes which was longer than planned but it was also further than expected at a shade under 26 miles. Can't wait until we do it again.
