We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary a little early at our church last night. As a part of that we showed our wedding video we were able to edit a little bit. Below is the intor I did before it was shown. Enjoy... I wanted to give a little introduction and tell about the history of this video. It was done by Lloyd Palmer. I’m not even sure we asked him to do it, but may have, but anyway he did it. He wasn’t a professional or anything, but looking back I am so grateful he did this for us. Technology was not what it is today. You will see that the quality was really not that good. And remember, this thing was originally on VHS. Some of you don’t even know what that is. Then at our 25th anniversary I asked a guy I know to convert it to DVD which is what was the latest and greatest thing and so he did that in 2011. Now that is old technology and no one uses DVDs any more. I was able to convert this to a newer format and since I was able to do that I was able to editorialize it a little bit, which I hope you find a little entertaining. We were married after a really long courtship. She is a much older woman and we started dating when I was a senior in high school though we had met when I started 10th grade at Parkview High School. So we dated my senior year and then all through college so really 5 years. I didn’t want to get married till I had a job. I was a summer graduate from college and landed a job at General Motors Acceptance Corporation and started there in early September and that’s when we decided to set the date for our wedding. We also don’t know how we ever got married when we did. I was an avid deer hunter even back then and muzzle loader deer season is always at our anniversary time and so for all these years we have almost never been together on our anniversary. We always did whatever we were going to do early so deer season was free. You see we are having this celebration today because ML season starts next week and it would just be too busy! We were married in Hebron Baptist Church where my family had always gone to church. That is where 2nd Baptist Church is on Barrow Rd today. One thing that really hit me when I was working on this video is the people who are in your life at any given time may not be in your life later on. I had lost touch with my groomsmen and had to run them down, ha! And the other thing that hit me is just how many people in the video have already passed on. All the little widow ladies are all gone now. Many of those that are left you couldn’t find them if you had to. Just interesting. Also, these are not actors playing me and Michele. The years can be so unkind. I’m so skinny back then you might not recognize me. My friend and I have a joke that there is 100 pounds of me that never went to high school. That’s true at the time of my wedding also. One other thing I might mention. Cheryl is doing something in this video most of you have probably never seen before. So keep an eye out for that. We also have a bit of a mystery. We don’t know who it is playing the organ. She is shown for just a few seconds but we don’t know who this is. If you do, please let us know.
